
The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, following the successful conduct of the Union’s election held on Tuesday.
In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday in Osogbo through the Corps Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, the Corps Commander commended members of the Union for conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process that culminated in the emergence of a new executive team to steer the affairs of the Council.
High Chief Omoyele warmly felicitated Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation on his election as Chairman; Comrade Olalekan Akindoju of Rave 91.7FM / Western Spring Television on his emergence as Secretary; and Comrade Saheed Adegboye of the Federation Chapel on his election as Treasurer.
Describing their victory as “well deserved,” the Corps Commander noted that the newly elected executives bring to bear a wealth of professional experience, dedication, and an impressive track record in journalism, which positions them appropriately to provide purposeful leadership at a critical time in the evolution of the media industry.
Omoyele emphasized that the media landscape is currently undergoing profound transformation driven by rapid digital innovation, shifting audience dynamics, ethical considerations, and heightened public expectations. He observed that these changes demand visionary leadership, strategic thinking, and unwavering commitment to professional standards qualities he believes the new NUJ leadership embodies.
“The emergence of this new executive team signals a renewed chapter for journalism practice in Osun State,” Omoyele stated. “I am confident that the Chairman and his colleagues possess the competence, integrity, and foresight required to strengthen professional ethics, promote unity among practitioners, and uphold the core values of responsible and developmental journalism.”
The Corps Commander further stressed the indispensable role of the media as a partner in promoting public awareness, transparency, and security consciousness within society.
He expressed optimism that under the new leadership, the NUJ in Osun State will continue to foster inclusiveness, safeguard the welfare and rights of journalists, and enhance collaboration among all chapels and media platforms print, broadcast, and digital.
Omoyele also reaffirmed the commitment of the Osun Amotekun Corps to maintaining a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the media, recognizing journalists as critical stakeholders in community engagement and information dissemination.
He concluded by wishing the newly elected NUJ executives a successful and impactful tenure, expressing hope that their administration will consolidate on past achievements while charting a progressive and innovative course for the future of journalism in Osun State.
