The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has extended warm congratulations to Christians across Osun State and Nigeria at large on the commencement of the 40-day Lenten season, which begins today.
In a goodwill message released to mark the solemn spiritual period, Dr. Omoyele described Lent as a sacred season of reflection, sacrifice, repentance, and renewed commitment to godly virtues.
He noted that the period offers an opportunity for Christians to draw closer to God, strengthen their faith, and rededicate themselves to the core teachings of Jesus Christ love, humility, forgiveness, compassion, and selfless service.
The Corps Commander emphasized that the spiritual discipline associated with fasting and prayer should not only foster personal transformation but also inspire collective responsibility towards building a more peaceful and harmonious society.
He urged Christians to imbibe the teachings of Christ in their daily lives, particularly in promoting unity, tolerance, and mutual respect among people of different faiths and backgrounds.
Dr. Omoyele further called on the Christian faithful to use the Lenten season to pray fervently for peaceful co-existence, security, and stability in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
According to him, sustained prayers and moral uprightness among citizens remain vital ingredients in supporting security agencies and community-based efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Osun Amotekun Corps to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, regardless of religious or ethnic affiliations.
He assured the public that the Corps will continue to collaborate with other security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain law and order across the state.
While wishing Christians a spiritually fulfilling Lenten season, the Corps Commander encouraged all citizens to embrace peace, shun violence, and work collectively towards sustaining the prevailing calm and progress in the state.
He prayed that the solemn period would usher in renewed hope, strengthened unity, and lasting peace for Osun State and the nation at large.
